Postpartum Padsicles

Considered part of the “fourth trimester,” postpartum care refers to the period following childbirth. After delivery, a mother’s perineal area is often sore, achy, tender, and inflamed. These padsicles are specifically designed to:

- Relieve pain
- Reduce swelling
- Promote healing of the sensitive perineal tissues

Bunny rabbit, and baby toys

Ingredients

1 pack of Postpartum pads or overnight pads

2 tbsp Plantain (Plantago spp.) leaf, dried

2 cups boiling water

Aloe vera gel (unscented)

Directions

  1. Steep the Plantain Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the plantain leaves. Let steep until the infusion cools completely to room temperature, then strain out the leaves.

  2. Prepare the Pads Remove the pads from their packaging, keeping the backing attached to the sticky side. Arrange them flat on a baking tray.

  3. Infuse the Pads Pour the cooled plantain infusion over each pad. Aim for a saturated but not soaking consistency, the pad should hold the liquid without dripping excessively.

  4. Add Aloe Vera Top each pad with a generous layer of aloe vera gel. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the gel evenly, ensuring it coats the entire surface of the pad.

  5. Freeze & Store Place the tray in the freezer until the pads are completely solid. Once frozen, transfer them to a zip-lock bag for storage. Use as needed.

Note:

To make recovery as simple as possible make these in advance. If you cant find plantain you can also use:

- Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

- Chamomile (Matricaria recutita)

Infuse the same way as you would for the plantain.
